Mesothelioma Patient Clinical Trials

Mesothelioma patients who have exhausted traditional therapies or who seek a more aggressive approach to their disease often enroll in clinical trials to receive experimental therapy.

Those patients who are planning to partake in a clinical trial for mesothelioma are required to meet a certain set of criteria in order to be considered eligible as a clinical trial participant. Since the main idea behind conducting a clinical trial is to assess the ability of a newly introduced treatment or drug in curing the disease, there are benefits and certain hazards involved.

The benefits include gaining access to new drugs resulting from new research efforts, constant monitoring
from expert physicians.  Some of the risks involved include exposed to the possibility of developing adverse effects, and the emotional disappointment if the drug or treatment proves to be ineffective.
